Project Overview
Nicholas O’Dwyer is providing Technical Assistance and Supervision services for a key water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the Gaziantep, Adıyaman, and Kilis provinces in Turkey. The programme includes the design, construction supervision, and operational planning of drinking water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and network rehabilitation. The work places a strong emphasis on sustainability, institutional capacity building, and resilience.
About the Role
Nicholas O'Dwyer is seeking a Commissioning Specialist to lead and supervise the mechanical, electrical, and process commissioning of water and wastewater treatment plants. The role will ensure functional testing, performance verification, and handover of systems in compliance with technical specifications and international best practices.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- As a Commissioning Specialist, working in collaboration as part of a larger team is essential for this role.
- Will hold overall responsibility for planning and managing the commissioning activities across multiple project sites.
- Take ownership and lead on functional testing, calibration, start-up, and system verification of treatment processes.
- Responsible for reviewing contractor commissioning plans and ensuring they align with the Employer’s Requirements.
- Support with performance testing, defect tracking, and operational readiness assessments.
- Responsibility to maintain regular updates and communicate commissioning progress, both internally and externally with the client.
- Responsible for supporting and guiding staff on safe system start-up and handover procedures.
- Maintaining a culture of continuous improvements across all aspects of the working environment and projects.
- To ensure maximum flexibility and to reflect the Company's evolving needs, additional tasks and responsibilities will form part of this role as it evolves.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
- A 3rd level degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Process Engineering is required.
- Minimum of 8 years’ professional experience and minimum of 3 years in commissioning Water and Wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, M&E systems and SCADA integration.
- Strong knowledge of process control logic, instrumentation, and performance testing protocols.
- Experience supervising system start-ups in line with FIDIC contract requirements is highly desirable.
- Experience in EU or other international funded projects.
- Proven ability and interest to support and train operational teams on system functionality.
- Competent in office packages, Microsoft, excel PowerPoint etc.
- Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work and manage many tasks concurrently.
- Excellent clear and concise communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.
