Project Overview
Nicholas O’Dwyer is providing Technical Assistance and Supervision services for a key water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the Gaziantep, Adıyaman, and Kilis provinces in Turkey. The programme includes the design, construction supervision, and operational planning of drinking water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and network rehabilitation. The work places a strong emphasis on sustainability, institutional capacity building, and resilience.
About the Role
Nicholas O'Dwyer is seeking a Contract Specialist to provide expert support on contract administration and management for FIDIC-based water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The role involves close coordination with project managers and engineering teams to ensure contract compliance, variation control, claims management, and reporting aligned with procedures.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- As a Contract Specialist, working in collaboration as part of a larger team is essential for this role.
- Will hold overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with FIDIC and PRAG contractual procedures across all works contracts.
- Take ownership and lead on contract interpretation, drafting, administration, and dispute resolution matters.
- Responsible for preparation and review of contractual correspondence and change orders.
- Support with the evaluation of claims, extension of time requests, and contractor variations.
- Responsibility to maintain regular updates and communicate on contractual progress and risks, both internally and externally with the client.
- Responsible for supporting and guiding project managers and resident engineers on contract implementation issues.
- Maintaining a culture of continuous improvements across all aspects of the working environment and projects.
- Training will be provided to fulfil the requirements of your role, your participation in all essential training will be required.
- To ensure maximum flexibility and to reflect the Company's evolving needs, additional tasks and responsibilities will form part of this role as it evolves.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
- A 3rd level degree in Engineering, Law, Construction Management, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience and a minimum of 3 years in contract management of large-scale water or wastewater infrastructure projects, preferably under FIDIC conditions.
- Demonstrated experience with EU PRAG procurement procedures and IFI-funded projects is highly desirable.
- Experience in EU or other international funded projects.
- Excellent knowledge of contract law claims assessment, and dispute resolution practices.
- Proven ability and interest to support and develop project teams in contractual best practices.
- Competent in office packages, Microsoft, excel PowerPoint etc.
- Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work and manage many tasks concurrently.
- Excellent clear and concise communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.
