The Role:

As the Ad Tech Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team, supporting internal client teams, and being on top of future technologies and solutions. This role is crucial to the smooth running of business-as-usual (BAU) services and for developing trusted relationships across departments and with the client’s media team.

An Ad Tech Operations Manager understands the full digital technology stack and will need to have excellent technical knowledge, effective communication skills, and extensive experience in implementing digital campaigns. The successful candidate can delegate day-to-day tasks to junior members, manage stakeholder requirements, and mentor team members. Having substantial experience in the Ad Tech Ops space with a broad understanding of the digital landscape and a drive to continually improve team workflow and process will ensure this role delivers best-in-class results.

Key Responsibilities

Campaign Management

• Responsible for end-to-end technical setup, trafficking, QA, activation, and ongoing support of digital campaigns specifically within ad server environments, including (but not limited to) Campaign Manager 360 (CM360), Adform, Sizmek, Flashtalking, etc.• Scope Clarity:
  - Ad Tech Ops “owns” the campaign setup process only within ad server platforms (building, trafficking, creative QA, activation, and reporting setup within CM360, Adform, Sizmek, Flashtalking, etc.).
  - The team does not build or activate campaigns inside buying platforms such as DV360, Meta, TikTok, or The Trade Desk (TTD); however, they provide technical support for tagging and tracking when required.
• Coordinates the application of verification tags and solutions (IAS, DoubleVerify, MOAT, etc.) to meet client brand safety, viewability, and fraud requirements.
• Ensures all ad server campaigns are launched accurately and on time, with correct technical specifications and compliance.

Tagging & Tracking

• Responsible for implementing and QA of tagging and tracking solutions (e.g., Floodlight, conversion pixels, third-party tags) across all relevant platforms as required by the business.• Scope Clarity:
  - Ad Tech Ops “owns” tagging and tracking implementation and QA within ad server-managed campaigns (CM360, Adform, etc.),
  - and also acts as the technical lead for tagging/tracking needs across other digital platforms (e.g., Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, DV360, TTD)—but does not own the campaign setup/activation in those buying platforms.
  - The team ensures all platforms are trackable, all conversions measurable, and all tags/pixels validated—but is not responsible for campaign buying, setup, or optimization outside the ad server environment.

Client and Partner Management

• Builds relationships with client/agency stakeholders, becoming a trusted technical advisor for ad server and verification environments.
• Advises on technology solutions, technical best practices, and integration of ad server/verification capabilities into broader digital strategy.
• Supports client initiatives, provides thought leadership, and develops points of view (POVs) for evolving ad tech and measurement needs.

People Management

• Manages and develops the Ad Tech Ops team, including performance management, mentoring, and ongoing skills development.
• Ensures training and development needs are evaluated and fulfilled for junior employees.

Operational Excellence

• Maintains 100% compliance with finance processes and WPP Media policies and procedures.
• Supports finance by reconciling ad tech fees, ad server and verification invoices, and ensuring timely campaign reconciliation.
• Effectively identifies quality and performance issues, proposing improvements and supporting the roll-out of new processes.
• Collaborates with cross-discipline peers and supports interdepartmental activities related to ad tech, tagging, and tracking.
• Supports or leads troubleshooting and communication for issues related to creative specs, publisher implementation, on-site tagging, and reporting discrepancies.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of ad server reporting capabilities and the insights provided by platform metrics.

Skills & Experience / About You

• Deep technical expertise and hands-on experience with ad serving systems and digital advertising tracking technologies.
• Experience managing end-to-end digital campaign setups on ad servers (CM360, Adform, Sizmek, Flashtalking, etc.).
• Proficiency in verification of vendor solutions and applications (IAS, DoubleVerify, MOAT, etc.).
• Experience with tagging/tracking setup, troubleshooting, and QA (Floodlight, conversion pixels, etc.).
• Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical detail for non-technical audiences.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
• Broad perspective on the ad tech landscape and a drive to continually improve processes, automation, and ways of working.
• Ability to manage a hybrid and multi-market team.
