Job Responsibilities
Create and design patterns based on fashion designers’ sketches or specifications
Use manual and computer-aided drafting methods to draw patterns
Make adjustments and alterations to patterns as needed
Work closely with designers and sample makers to ensure the accuracy of the final product
Grade patterns to create a range of sizes for each design
Ensure that patterns adhere to established production standards and guidelines
Test and adjust patterns by creating test garments
Document and maintain records of all created patterns
Recommend improvements and modifications to optimize production process
Assess and choose appropriate fabric or material for each pattern
Job Requirements
Proven work experience as a Patternmaker
Experience with manual and Assist systems
Strong understanding of garment construction and manufacturing processes
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to interpret and realize design sketches
Strong mathematical skills for pattern making calculations
Ability to communicate effectively with design and production teams
High school diploma or equivalent, with a degree in fashion design or related field preferred
