1. Post Context/Post Summary
Allied Land Command (LANDCOM) HQ is the Theatre Land Component and Land Advocate responsible for coordinating and synchronizing NATO and Partner Land Forces by enabling land domain readiness, interoperability, standardization, and competency; on order deploys headquarters elements to provide planning, coordination, and command capabilities to Allied forces.
The Support Directorate is responsible for providing LANDCOM with organizational structures, personnel, logistics, communications and information systems and base support.
The G4 Division provides advice on Logistics to the Command, to the Land Operations Planning Group and to the Combat Readiness Evaluation teams.
The Movement and Transport Branch provides advice on cargo and personnel transportation for operations planning and execution to LANDCOM and to the Joint Logistics Support Group.
The Staff Officer (Movement and Transportation) is responsible for monitoring and coordinating the movements of troops and cargo, and the use of all means of transportation in the Area of Operations and for contributing to the Logistics Picture.
2. Principal Duties
The incumbent's duties are:
- Provides M&T expertise.
- Contributes to the Operational and Logistics Planning Process with M&T expertise.
- Coordinates and deconflicts all (land) movements within the AOR.
- Supports the JLSG in planning and execution of Reception Staging and Onward Movement (RSOM) operations in the AOR during exercises and missions.
- Contributes to the identification and implementation of the Theatre Route Network.
- Contributes to the development of the Recognized Logistic Picture.
- Co-ordinates the use of dedicated multinational movement and transportation assets.
- Provides M&T expertise to CREVAL and other evaluations
3. Special Requirements and Additional Duties
The employee may be required to perform a similar range of duties elsewhere within the organisation at the same grade without there being any change to the contract
May have to travel on duty or deploy within and without NATO area for up to six months in any eighteen month period.
The work is normally performed in a Normal NATO office working environment.

4. Essential Qualifications
a. Professional/Experience
(1) Land Movements
Activities that involve inland surface transport (IST). IST encompasses the use of ports and beaches, road, railroad and inland waterway transport modes, as well as inter-modality within them. The transportation mode used depends on the existing geography and developmental infrastructure available.

(2) Military Movement
Activities that involve the planning, routing, scheduling and control of personnel and cargo movements over lines of communication. Involves the whole spectrum of infrastructure, organisations, facilities and equipment that is necessary for the deployment, sustainment and re-deployment of NATO forces during the execution of a mission. Requires the supporting capabilities of mobility, transportation, infrastructure, movement control, and support functions. There are three types of transportation modes: airlift, sealift and inland surface transport (IST).

b. Education/Training
University Degree in Operation, logistics, transport or related discipline and 2 years function related experience, or Higher Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 4 years post related experience.

6. Attributes/Competencies
a. Personal Attributes
The incumbent will need to apply an analytical approach in order to collect a multitude of logistic data on movement and transportation from different units, and subsequently to elaborate an overall assessment of the movement status in a given area of operations. The post holder will be required to analyse the available data and produce findings and recommendations; therefore, the individual should be able to properly understand a problem and assess potential solutions, thus requiring a certain level of creativity.
b. Professional Contacts
The duties and functions of the incumbent require frequent internal interactions with Staff Officers and Staff Assistant of all Branches of G4 Division. Occasionally, the post holder could present his findings and recommendations to senior staffs such as ACOSs and DCOSs.
c. Contribution to Objectives
The incumbent will contribute to the overall objectives of G4 Division providing insights and findings that will be elaborated together with the other ones produced by the other Branches. The contribution of the incumbent will allow G4 Division to properly elaborate the Recognized Logistics Picture (Land) and, subsequently, will allow LANDCOM HQ in its role as CFLCC to maintain a logistics Situation Awareness.

7. Additional Information
a. Allowances
Members of the staff who fulfil the conditions of eligibility laid down in the Civilian Personnel Regulations shall receive the appropriate allowances/supplements.
