Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with the schools curriculum and educational standards.
  • Teach English literature, composition, grammar, and vocabulary to students in grades 912.
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages participation, creativity, and academic achievement.
  • Assess student progress regularly through assignments, tests, presentations, and class participation.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate academic progress with parents/guardians.
  • Prepare students for standardized tests and college readiness assessments.
  • Incorporate technology and diverse teaching methods to enhance learning.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
  • Uphold school policies, discipline, and ethical guidelines.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in English, Education, or a related field (Masters preferred).
  • Valid state teaching certification/license for secondary English.
  • Proven experience teaching high school English (minimum 2 years preferred).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a classroom effectively and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Familiarity with digital learning platforms and modern educational tools is a plus.


Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of diverse literary texts and current pedagogical practices.
  • Ability to teach AP English Literature or AP Language (if applicable).
  • Commitment to continuous professional growth.
  • Passion for teaching and mentoring adolescents.
